Well its been a busy weekend fitting bulbs, cleaning, polishing and re-polishing. I started off removing the orange bulbs that kinda spoil the look (IMO) of the headlights. I stuck in some Osram Diadem - not the chrome ones but the other ones they do as I love the colour of them.
The rear lights look like this - again slightly spoilt by the orange...
So I popped in some chrome diadems to neaten things up...
When we bought the car the bodywork was the worst part of it - its only had one owner but she wasn't the most careful and she obviously parked it near someone who regularly opened the door into hers at around the same point. Our dent guy worked absolute wonders on the car on Friday so its now dent free - thank you Rob @ Scorpion dents. Next up was the paint itself and I'd had a go with a foam cutting pad on my machine polisher but it wasn't man enough even using G3 cutting compound. The lacquer was quite flat and there was plenty of tar on the paint as shown by my clay bar. I ended up taking advice from a professional detailer that the meguiars microfibre pads were the way to go with their 300 cutting compound. So after many hours of trying to make perfect I reckon I'm 90% there - the other 10% required more faith in the depth of the clearcoat than I was willing to risk.
Very pleased with the results - even the better half noticed it was shiny
The car now looks very glossy and back to how it should be cared for - one happy MB again. Finished the car off with two coats of Jetseal 109 for a nice protective winter finish, then put a coat of Vics Concours wax on top for good measure.
