Afternoon all

When i am looking to purchase a vehicle i will always check Ebay AutoTrader PistonHeads and car and classic, If ever i sell a car i will use Ebay Ph and Car and classic but not AutoTrader due to the cost
Was out with a couple of friends (non petrol heads) and both stated they only ever look on AutoTrader if looking to purchase a vehicle, I wondered what most here normally do?

I think pretty much everyone looks on eBay to be honest. Even main dealers use it these days :thumb:

Autotrader I check from time to time but I have bought very few cars from there over the years, it's a bit outdated as a service IMHO.

I spend half my life on Auto Trader just looking .... Ebay still feels an odd place to buy a car (just to me not making any comment on those that do)

I didn't buy privately for some time now, but when I want to see what the prices are like I check on Autotrader and eBay.

I always thought that PistonHeads and Car and Classic are for specialist cars? e.g. C63 and M3 on PistonHeads, XR3 and Delta Integrale 8v on Car and Classic.... this sort of thing?

If I'm looking for a specific car, I'll use every known car trading outlet possible to find what I want. The only one I don't look at is Exchange and Mart.

I have bought my 3 MB's through Autotrader, eBay and Gumtree.
Sold the wife's A class on Gumtree in under 3 hrs from the advert going live and one of my Merc's on eBay.

I hate selling privately, as it seems everyone demands perfection which is near impossible on an older car. The fact you have priced the car according to age/condition etc seems not to matter to some tyrekickers. So you have to play the game and add a bit, expecting to be knocked down. It's all hassle I don't want.

I've not needed to look anywhere else but Autotrader for thelast two used car purchases. Might change that, reading this thread!

Us folk with this condition need a group like Alcoholic's Anonymous.

Maybe Autotrader Anonymous! :D

I need to join that group too! I don't find eBay as easy to dip into and monitor what's on sale but maybe I need to get up to date and start to watch eBay instead / as well.
