Hello,

We have a C220 Sports Coupe (Automatic) 143bhp.

When the engine is warmed up and you are moving, the performance is fine.

However, the card is incredably slow to react from a standing start (and is worse when the engine is cold) and I believe this car is known for being sluggish off the line.

How can I rectify this as it is most annoying trying to pull onto busy roundabouts as I floor the throttle, wait for something to happen, then the car crawls forward until the revs get to approx 2,000 and the turbo kicks in, then it accelerates as you would expect it should.

Would, for example getting it 'chipped' from somewhere like this solve the problem?

Many thanks

Paul

The 220 diesel is a good engine with plenty of torque.

The 143 bhp should feel a lot more than the figure suggests.

From you're description, maybe something is not right. How long have you owned the car? Maybe it needs a check over?

If everythings OK, and you still want a bit quicker
response - try fitting a Sprintbooster.

Jay.

Are you running the gearbox in C or S mode? C (Comfort) mode starts the car off in 2nd gear.

Hi,

We have had the car around 3 years.

Last year it had a new air mass meter fitted - maybe that has gone again?

C and S mode?

It has W or S mode.
W = Winter mode
S = Standard mode.

It's not that its slow at accelerating (i.e. pulling away in 2nd) it goes like this.

1. Car is stationary and transmission is in drive mode, foot is on brake.
2. Take foot off brake and floor the throttle.
3. Wait for the car to respond.
4. Car creeps forward slowly
5. Car continues to creep forward until revs are around 2,000 (and turbo kicks in?)
6. Car briskly accelerates

Where can I buy a Sprintbooster from please?

Thanks

Paul

Sounds like its more than just standard MB throttle lag (which is vastly improved with sprintbooster). I think it needs checking over by a specialist. Got my SB off ebay but i think there is a club discount from somewhere else - try searching SB threads.

Its possible that the MAF needs cleaning,,why not unplug it and try the car. Disel engines do siol the MAF quicker than petrol

Is there are fault on the gearbox ?
