The coolant temperature in my C250 sometime hits 105C and the radiator fan still doesn't kick in.
In normal driving conditions the temperature stays at about 90 - 95C. The ambient temp is about 25C.
But when I`m in the mood to floor it and shift at 4k rpm for a couple of minutes and then pull over and stay at idle for another couple of minutes, i can see the coolant temperature rising. Today it got to 105. If I look at the dashboard it shows about 90C. But I have a bluetooth OBD device and I was looking at it in real time. At 105C, standing still and at idle, the radiator fan still wasn't working.
Also, i can see the intake air temp with the OBD. When i stand still the engine compartment gets heat soaked. The intake air temp gets to 50C - 60C. It drops to about 35C when i start driving.
I know the fan on these cars kicks in at pretty high temperature, but isn't 105C too much?
