Agreed and the performance figures are hardly astonishing.

You can just about buy a 204 320 cdi for that!
I think he would get nearer the mark, if he marketed it in Germany or even contacted MB to see if they wanted to buy it..

Perhaps it was to show that AMG could "do" a diesel variation. Even Alpina are doing diesels now.

To be fair it was quick (ish) at the time. Things have just moved on a lot in a short space of time.

The engine it was based on was around 163bhp (2.7 litres) versus 231bhp (3.0 litres)
