Started her up today and got the message service A2 due in 25 days. Whats an average cost of this one guys? Thanks.

I asked this when I picked up my C63 the other week and they said for an A service it will be between £250-£320 depending in a few consumables.

if it's around that price I will be a happy man. But I've heard of A2 services around the £1000 mark. LSD diff fluid change, transmision fluid blah blah. Bit frustrating as well as my father owned a mot and servicing workshop and I can do all the work myself. But it just don't give you that main dealer stamp of approval.

Personally I like a fsh but I like to see some specialist history. Nice to think someone who owns and runs our cars works on them rather than some spotty teenager whos recently passed their test....but maybe thats just me.....so my point. Ask your local specialist sure itll be a damn sight cheaper and I believe warranty should be fine if genuine parts are used

If it is £1000 then that's about the same cost as buying two services using the used car rate on AMG ServiceCare - £45/mth for 24mths.

That's refreshing to hear. I/we have always done major work on all my cars, always use genuine parts and always stamp service book. Trouble is with the merc is there's no service book. When I had my m5 I was running a big brake kit tarox 12 pot and a cold air intake with k&n's. I called a main dealer and asked how much the next service was and asked what work would be carried out. I explained I had aftermarket brakes, filters etc and was told it wouldn't make a difference and that the particular service due was a set price. In other words they would charge me for checking all brakes filters even tho there would be nothing they could do to replace them lol.

As I've not owned a merc before. How are the dealers in respect of for example service a2 requires oil fluid & filters but also on top of this they change diff fluid gearbox fluid blah blah and I was to ask them to do the basic and I do the rest.

To be honest it's not so much as I'm being tight. It's the fact I hate trusting others to do work on my car.

In my experience my local dealer is okay with doing the basics and leaving the rest. On my old E63 I asked them to ignore the air filter and spark plugs that were due as I was having these replaced with upgraded parts. they adjusted price accordingly and did only what I asked and as you say I was able to maintain dealer history and at the same time know the majority of the work was undertaken by someone I trust.
