Afternoon chaps,

Quick question, I'm in the market for some new tyres for my 507, I'm not what I'd call a mad driver, I don't track, I don't park up in car parks doing burn outs and donuts, although I will put my toe down every now again to remind myself of the power lurking under that vented hood, so I'm looking for a tyre that can handle the performance but will also serve me well for day to day town driving, motor way miles, rain, dry etc.. etc...

I've looked at a few to include reviews and I think I've got it down to these 3, just looking for peoples thoughts and experiences:

I personally still run with the Conti SC 5's and have no problem. They wear, but so would any soft compound performance tyre. They are progressive, and handle mid-500hp very well.

Come time to change, I'll likely try the SC6 which was not out at the time I last renewed.

I'm running the 4s, great grip in the dry although I still get the traction light flashing if I'm a bit heavy footed pulling out of a junction. Good feel in the wet as well, like them a lot but I have only recently had them fitted so don't know what they wear like.

Goodyears all day long! Great grip wet or dry! Great price! and the 3's don't wear to bad either!

Replaced all 4 on my C63 in February and 5k miles later and the rears are only half warn! Fronts are still on 7mm

I've recently replaced the conti 5's that came with my 507 to the Michelin PS4S...the grip and ride quality is much better

I wouldn't go back to contis

I've just fitted a full set of "Continental Sport Contact 6" to my mapped 2013 C63 AMG, and they're much better than the original Yokohama's which were fitted by Mercedes as the standard tyre when new.

The Conti's met my requirements which i was looking for, namely High Grip and Low Road Noise.

I wasn't too concerned about wear levels or driving in the wet. The car's my toy and used for enjoyment not necessity and I have to admit it's a bit of a fair weather car.

They get really good write up's in the motoring press and a good few reviews on good old YouTube.

So far they're proving to have really good grip in the dry and the road noise is the most noticeable difference over the Yokohama's I previously had on the car, which admittedly may have started to go a little hard due to age.

Got timed out before I'd finished........ LOL.

They were only introduced in late 2016, so have the latest development and are aimed at cars like the high powered BMW's and Mercedes and the Pilot Sport 4S was introduced slightly later, but make sure if you go for the Pilot Sport 4 that you get the Pilot Sport 4 "S" which the reviews also rate as one of the top high performance saloon car tyres.

SportContact? 6

Don't think you'd go far wrong with these, but appreciate tyres are a personal choice from experience, but time and development move forward, there were times when I'd have bought nothing else than Yokohama's but each manufacturer have their peaks, which don't last forever.

I think your choice should be between the Continental Sport Contact 6 which is affordable and the Pilot Sport 4S which is the latest Michelin tyre on the block, a little more expensive than the Continental and from the reviews it appears to have edged out as the top choice with the Continental holding on to second spot.

Direct comparisons are shown here.....

The pilot sport 4s won Evo magazine tyre of the year test in the current issue beating amongst others the Conti 6.
