C63 purchase advice

    Hi guys,

    Looking to purchase a c63 in the next few months, most likely a facelift coupe, and I'm wondering if it's worth looking out for a PPP car as there are not to many in my price range (30k).

    So what does the PPP actually include and is it worth it? Has anyone had experience with a standard car and a PPP car? Would most likely be going for a secondary cat delete and a remap anyway so the extra power with the PPP wouldn't mean to much. Also is there any other optional extras to look out for or avoid?

    Currently have a lightly modified Impreza sti and enjoy my trackdays, would not be doing as many in the c63 but maybe 2/3 a year and a Nurburgring trip does anyone have any advice on how these fair on track? Read a little about the overheating is it really a big problem? Has anyone made a similar change from sti to c63?

    Also from Lancashire is there any local events or meets?

    Apart from the 30hp increase ppp cars rev quicker and smoother at the top end. If you are going to modify anyhow its not a great benefit to you. Ppp also get 2 piece brake discs to dissipate heat better. I never had mine on track so couldnt comment as to how useful. 18in wheels dont look as good but give better ride . The best mod in my experience is to find a car with diff lock option or aftermarket lsd fitted. Transforms car. Otherwise buy on condition is usual advice.

    I drove Impreza's for years, final one was a 330S. Ditched that and bought a CLK55, then about 2 years ago a C63.

    You're going to find getting power down a problem in comparison, but you'll learn how to adapt.
    Fuel costs - in normal daily driving, there won't be a big difference - except you'll be far more comfortable and relaxed in a C63 (given the traffic is generally sh1te regardless of where you are)

    The C63 eats rear tyres for fun in my experience

    And then the noise - yes, 2.0lL Impreza's made a nice noise, not so much the 2.5's.
    The C63 - well thats in a totally different league, especially from a cold start, so I hope you've got good neighbours.

    I wouldnt discount a car if it doesnt have PPP but bear in mind the residuals will be stronger and insurance cheaper (vs modded). Red calipers are nice too although the alcantara wheel goes smooth very quickly.

    If you're willing to wait for the right one you should be able to get one in budget with slightly higher miles. My approved used PPP wagon with 50k and 19s was well under £30k but I'd been keeping my eye on Autotrader for over a year until it came up.

    I waited and got a ppp over a stock car
    As said once modified not much difference
    The facelift won't have 2 piece discs but a 1.5 disc its one piece but more like a 2 piece
    The steering wheel is a nice touch
    Personally I'd wait and not rush but I would go view a few even if you're not planning to buy to get a feel
    As its been mentioned they hold their value better

    That is if you decide to keep it stock. Once modified, and if you do not remove mods prior to sale, then it would not make any difference between PPP or non PPP in my opinion.

    I knew I was going to mod mine and hence did not bother with PPP.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Thanks for all the replies!

    So seems as though standard vs standard cars the PPP would be worth it, but a standard car with remap and LSD (seems this makes big difference) could be a worthy option?

    Do the PPP brakes perform much better as from what iv read they are 3 times the price come replacement time?! I work away a fair amount so mpg and tyre wear won't affect me too much with the millage I do.

    The sti is an awesome B road blaster but want some more refinement, comfort and luxury! The sti decatted and is fairly loud so think the neiboughs are used to noise! Or just to nice to complain! The grip in any weather is nice though does the c63 struggle that much or is it just wet/slippery conditions?

    In no rush to buy be another few months and have noticed a few bargains popping up on auto trader/pistons but are gone within days!

    And I also need that noise in my life!

    And is there any specialist in the Lancashire area? I see MSL seem the get the vote for remaps etc but doesn't anyone have any experience of SVM? Have a 'stage 2' package on there website claiming 550bhp!

    Baby wipes fix this. I hate seeing PPP cars with shiny alcantara at dealers. Laziness!

    Are you set on a coupe OP?

    If it has no other options make sure it has, or you budget to add an LSD. I have no idea why they are not factory standard fit, they really should be. The difference it makes cannot be underestimated.

    I change my mind when i see either saloon or coupe drive past, my old neighbour had a wagon which was stunning aswel! Think iv settled on a white (or black!) coupe with red leather (maybe!)

    There should be hundreds of white coupes with black wheels - think that is the only colour they made ;-)

    PPP cars will always be more desirable - look at the way you and others talk about them in the thread. The premium may not be much but they will sell much quicker come resale time. Alcantara wheel cleans up easily with a Nubuck cleaning block.

    PPP brakes are composite, not two piece or anything else others say - aluminium bell with steel rotor. Withstood the immense beating I gave mine, and I mean so immense the wheel centre caps melted!

    Get a wagon, you know you want to...

    I maybe biased but I never liked the way C63 coupes looked.
    It just doesn't have as much road presence as a saloon IMO.
    Re PPP vs non PPP, I decided against PPP as I did not want to pay a fortune to replace the brakes and was going to remap it anyway.
    You can easily get red calipers and alcantara steering wheel if that's what you want.

    I have no children and feel I'm still to young for a wagon yet ha! Think il keep looking for a car I like with right colour combos, history etc and if it has PPP aswel then bonus!

    I was in the same situation as u G13NVL, I waited for over a year until the right one came about. ended up with a PPP coupe for 30k. I put my deposit down for it the day it was advertised and was told by the dealer, someone had just test drove it and was going home to ok it with his misses and I rang up and bought it before he managed to get back to the showroom!
    Carbon spoiler is also a nice touch that u get with PPP cars.

    I'm 28 and have no kids! Maybe get into mountain biking so you have an excuse?:D

    It never made sense to me that that Coupe is longer than the wagon..
