Hi

The 6 CD multichanger in the glove box of my 2006 C class makes all the right whirring and clicking noises when I load the cassette of CD's into it. But when I try to select it I get 'CD load error' come up on the screen of the Audio 20 system.

I have took it in and out and swapped CD's around (all originals, not burned copies) It does not sound as if it is even trying to move the selected disk into the player.

The single CD in the head unit and the radio works fine.

Any ideas before I start tearing it apart ?

Thanks.

On my old W220 S Class, had this happen to me, and a simple power disconnect and reconnect sorted mine, could try that. Sorry can't be more helpful.

If it's like mine the first thing it does when a CD magazine is inserted is select and scan each CD in turn, before playing CD1. If it's unable to complete this routine it will not go any further. You can watch it attempting this if you leave the sliding door open...

You could remove all but one CD tray from the magazine (they just pull out) and leave a good (non homemade) CD into the remaining tray and see if it will load. This might help to eliminate/isolate any mechanical error.

Otherwise may need repair of some kind. Mine did and has been fine since for 18 months

Took the changer out, one screw ! disconnected both plugs turned ignition on and off again, re connected plugs and screwed the single torx screw back in and Hey Presto ! A fully functioning CD changer. I wonder how much an ICE specialist or auto electrician would charge for this 'service' ?!

Thanks
