Reminiscent of back street metal artists in Karachi in 1975 casting (in sand) and replicating a part for our rig - it was better than the US original - and then in about 1981 taking a 15ft x about 25" diammeter spool (heavy duty, 5000psi working pressure!), manufactured by an approved manufacturer in Aberdeen, to a machine shop in the back streets of Thessaloniki in Greece, they were able to spin it horizontally and tell us that the flange connections were out of alignment, correct that (by cutting them off and rewelding them) and redo the gasket grooves in the flanges, all in special stainlenn steel to very precise specifications for H2S service - amazing! Mind you, they were used to machining the connection between a tank turret and the tank body - for full size battle tanks!!
