Hi, Can any of you guys help me find/install the Aux input connection for my 2005 CLK 320 cabriolet command APS system. The menu shows the Aux capability but haven't a clue where the input is.
Also have any of you experienced problem with the SatNav system being extremely slow to locate a fix or satellites. It may be a faulty Antenna which I think is located within the boot lid.
Many thanks
Nick

if you dont have it in the glovebox you'll see a small circle template in the right of the glovebox for where it goes, my facelift clk was missing the wiring but its very easy to fit, i think the cable was about £15 from MB and just needed the carpet in the passenger corner lifting slighty. Very easy to do.

I had a 2008 clk and the aux socket was in the glovebox.
I also had problems with the satnav when it was very hot, especially when I was abroad. The compass symbol would keep spinning around and the system would say no disc installed. And sometimes when the route for a journey had been calculated and you were in the middle of the journey the satnav would stop functioning and the message would keep repeating no disc installed and the compass symbol would be spinning around again.
I thought the problem was with the laser head. I got a CD cleaning kit and it seemed to fix the problem for a while but in hot conditions the problem returned. I think for the problem to be fixed you will have to take the unit out and send it to a specialist to be fixed and most likely a new laser head fixed. The only problem is this will more than likely cost more than a good standalone satnav will cost and not have many of the features.
I don't like wires trailing about the cockpit so I solved the problem a couple of months ago by upgrading/dating to an E class.

The AUX input is on the left of the glovebox if you have it. If not, then its easily fitted but you may or may not have the intermediate connector. If you do its easy, if not a little more time consuming.

Parts are here;

Gents,
Many thanks very helpful. Just had the same problem as kjl - satnav crashed possibly overheated

No aux connector in mine (2005) or a 'knock out' dimple in the glove box. I bought the wiring loom for the aux input and lifted the passenger side door kick plate to fit said aux loom and errrmm are you kidding, theres a thousand wires down there in a tight space and none I could see with the correct block connector to fit the aux loom into!!

Mine has the Aux installed, but when I bought the car there was a CD storage unit in the way next to the CD changer, which made the Aux socket hidden and not usable.
There were no screws holding it in, and after a bit of a struggle I got it removed.

Yjr Aux in on my 2003 CLK270 was certainly in the glove box as well as the factory fitted CD holder. Problem with Satnav was when car was cold. Had to drive by the sun/moon for 20 mins until it sprang back to life.

My Command DX works perfectly, no waiting, and it even came with the latest UK CD maps, so I don't have any reason to replace it.
I also have a separate Garmin, and TomTom on the phone as backup, as mainly I use satnav for traffic updates.
