    Hi,

I've swapped the Audio 20 headunit in my wifes 2004 CLK with a like-for-like 2nd hand replacement and the new unit doesn't "see" the CD Changer. It says "NO CDC". Mercedes seem to think it more likely that the new headunit is broken. Is it likely that it needs coding to tell it there's a CDC attached? Any advice?

Did the donor car have a changer? - If not, then I'd do with your assumption that it's not looking for one.

Apparently the donor didn't have a changer. I've noticed that the phone interface doesn't work either, so it's not seeing anything on the MOST bus.

Now to find a MB dealer that can do this quickly and cheaply. The one I contacted today wanted £140 + vat to even look at it.

Did you connect the changer lead? Normally fibre optic lead.

Yes of course. It's part of the quad-lock connector anyhow. I'd have to go out of my way to not plug it in :)

I found a local independent Merc specialist who had Star Diagnostics. They spent 20mins coding the stereo so now the CDC & Handsfree kit work perfectly. They charged me less than £40 too!
