Normally never even rev up car however today stuck in neutral and put foot down. For some reason it capped out around 4100rpm and wouldn't get into the red. Others in car said it's not normal? What could be wrong? Cheers

Hi,
Revving to only 4k rpm in neutral is completely normal, and is nothing to worry about.
It stops the engine being revved excessively when not under any load.

Ah thanks guys makes sense. I was holding accelerator fully down for a good few seconds wondering why. Hope no damage could arise :/

Nah, it'll be fine because of the lower rev limit in neutral. Without that rev limit it's much easier to over rev the engine because with no load on it accelerates much more quickly and the rev limiter can't overcome momemtum/inertia...

That video shows what the manufactures are up against. No wonder they fill owners manuals with annoyingly obvious safety instructions. They have to cover themselves against drivers without a brain.

Cheers guys just glad no issue with car :)
