Gentlemen

Can you tell me please, in what years did Mercedes offer folding rear seats as an option on the CLS?
And was it popular?

Thanks, but I have heard that they are available but cannot seem to find any.

only on current CLS, the 218

original CLS did not have rear folding seat option

No-one...and I mean no-one selects "Esi-pack" folding rear seats option.

I will.

Dear Dieselman
What am I not understanding about the folding rear seat option?
It seems like a good idea to me.

dm, after your 218 test drive i thought you were not interested in this model, what's changing your view on this?

Folding rear seats in a saloon are a great idea and for most people's use make it as useful as an estate. Very few people load an estate up as far as the window line let alone fill it, it's length that most people find useful!

Unfortunately very few new car buyers work this out so don't order it and is probably the only thing that disappoints me with my CLS, as Sean said though it was never available on the 219. The missus's 1 series coupé has fold down seats as standard and is far more practical despite being much smaller and two door purely because of that, I had a couple of bikes in the back, a ladder and numerous other long DIY items that I would have no chance of getting home in my car.
