The forum tells us it will never be a cheap car to run, but history looks good and the use of Wayne Gates implies a good owner.

As he has offered up Wayne, I would expect the seller to be happy to have a purchaser ask the garage for a fair view on it

If you are after this model I'd say its worth a look. The split rim wheels are a nice bonus. An pre-purchase inspection by an indy might be money well spent.
Here is the datacard if you want to see the options fitted.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I was thinking the same so will drop the seller an email first before contacting WG out of courtesy. Thanks for the spec list  Fair enough if things go wrong down the line but buying one with any outstanding problems in a no-no.

My first choice was a CLK55 Convertible but the dealer I spoke to over the weekend said no service history and you could see in the pictures the lining looked like it was detaching itself near the rear window.

Just need to get the AMG box ticked :)

There is quite a performance difference between the CLK and the CLS.
Once you try a supercharged car, you'll be hooked.:D

Plus side with the CLK is there is slightly less to go wrong. It will only do 3/4k miles at the most - got another car and motorbike. Until I recently saw a silver one close up it had to be black/beige but silver is growing on me.

The CLS 55 will go down as an all time classic both for its revolutionary looks and the best V8 AMG engine ever made.

The one in the OP looks like it needs a wheel refurb and I’d suspect they’ve been swapped from what left the factory but from what I can see they do look OEM.

So a few hundred quid on wheel refurb and wrap that hideous walnut plus £500 contingency on top and you’ve got a cracking ‘55K!

Sukys should be perfect for you if you're concerned about high miles etc, what I don't understand is if miles bother you why did you consider the one you posted in the first place ? Good luck with your search, CLS 55 prices seem to be coming down & are there are a few popping up at reasonable prices, very sleek cars indeed.
55 engined cars are good ...supercharged ones are amazing, there really is no comparison at all.

Hideous walnut? How very dare you...

It probably will - I missed the boat with the MK 1/11 Escorts, Sierra/Escort Cosworths and a few other marques. There is another few advertised with slightly less mileage about at the moment for £8/8.5k. I can live with the interior and the way it is :D

Hello Nat if your looking for a cls 55 amg i'm selling my one. 70k on it with full history silver with black leather interior. I cannot message anyone yet due to the 30 post rule.
Any more details or a link to ad including a price? :)

Mileage doesn't bother me if the price is right. The last CLS I had was a 500 and that was a nice enough car and good to live with, although I always admired the 55 when I saw one and wished I'd bought one.

Ah I see, I thought it did after the "Potential wallet hoover at those miles?" comment.
If nothing major is wrong & is not cat car etc then at that price I would have thought it a good buy , especially as you know these cars?

My last one was bought at 109k miles and had a very good history. Apart from a pair of batteries, headlight washer, pulley and a few other little things inc centre boxes delete, it was a great car. I do regret selling it after the 18 months of owning it - in fact I'm not even sure why I did, if that makes sense. I then bought a 645i Coupe then a 645i Convertible with both of those been short lived chasing the dreaded oil leaks that the BM's are renowned for. My current CLK320d was bought as a stop gap car and will be sold once I've bought the next. The top of my list is a CLS55 but even a CLK55, C55, etc would do as I like a V8.

I've not lived with the CLS55 so hence my comment about been a potential wallet hoover. I can't imagine the AMG tax for brakes, pads, etc are cheap in comparison with say a CLS/CLK500.

Prices on brakes on these are quite reasonable as they are not floaters. I think it was around £300 for discs and pads at the front. I don't know the prices on 500s but I can't imagine they are much less...

There's a topic on this one further down the page. It's been for sale for quite a while. Only recently it was up for £10.5k, then £9k then back up to £10.5k and now £9k again.

It's been up before too a while ago. It was at a time when the weather and time of year was pants but the photos appear to be taken in warmer months - looks like the same photos again now.
