The end goal I am looking for is to have a system in my car which allows me to play cd/ mp3, have navigation and blue tooth.

I have the command system and bose upgrade fitted to my W209 CLK and, having read any number of posts on here, it would appear that I am pretty much humped from an upgrade point of view in that anything I do will involve the replacement of the command and the Bose amp.

So, a couple of questions to the wise ones:

Do I need to replace the speakers as well?
Do I absolutely need an amp, or can I remove the Bose and wire the speakers direct to the new head unit?
How likely is it that I can do this and retain the wheel controls and the display functions?

Any help or guidance, gratefully received.

Hugh

The Bose speakers are 2 ohm which is not enough impedance for a head unit to directly drive.
You could leave the Bose speakers but get a new amp to run them. Or you could replace the speakers and run straight from head unit.
Either way you will need to introduce new wiring to the car.
Can bus adapters are available for most of the major brands to retain steering wheel control and cluster display.
