hi all

Today i had fixed the passenger side seat belt extender on my 1992 220 CE yippee and then went on to replace the engine mounts.

getting to the drivers side top bolt was difficult so i move the MAF wiring loom out of the way replaced engine mount all done happy days I though NOT !!!.

once i started up the car I could see sparks coming from the Maf wiring loom and immediately shut it off.

Upon closer examination all the connections at the Maf side have lost the insulation and i then traced back the wiring to the ecu to see where it became good again.


I'am thinking about replacing the wiring on a temporary basis until funds allow for a new loom and I have coupleof questions

1. the cables i have at the ECU end are green/yellow, yellow,brown, & red/blue. Does anyone know to which of the pins they connect to on the MAF connector

2. whats the likelyhood of the ecu been damaged ?.

3. the brown and the red/blue cable appear to be going into the car somewhere , any idea's

4. is it possible to buy replacement plug and wiring ( but not the whole loom ) as i seem to remember reading it somewhere but cannot find the link?

This is the plug from a '93 320E which has been cut open using a Dremel and rewired to the correct colours. If it's any different from your 220 I will be surprised.



Hope you've not fried the ECU. :(

thanks for the pic however the wiring on my one is different

red/blue
brown
yellow/green
white/yellow.

going to try and open it with a dremel shortly and will update.
