I have a 1995 E280 estate and want to replace its pre-facelift rear bumper which I put following accident damage years ago as a temporary measure.
I now acquired the original colour coded bumper from a cannibalised W124 estate.
I removed the 8 nuts (4 on each side) found under trims/spare tyre.
I removed the 2 front rubber seals at the rear wheel arches.
The bumper sides came off the body.
I pulled bumper rearwards as per instructions but it seems as if there is something holding the bumper in the middle.
IS THERE?
Exactly the same thing happened in the car to be cannibalised. Stuck in the middle.
If I pull back any harder, the bumper will surely break.
I have replaced the rear bumper years ago and can not remember any screws/nuts in the middle.
I tried to remove these 2 screws to inspect underneath but they are so jammed on both cars that it was unlikely that I have removed them in the past.
What am I doing wrong?
Any idea about what could be holding the bumper in the middle?
I have a feeling the solution will be extremely simple and straightforward.
Thanks for your help
