Being a complete turnip when it comes to computers, can someone plase tell me how to correct this problem:

Although I have no problem surfing the net, If I click on a link that someone has added to a post, I get a new window like I should but that's it.

The new window is empty. Nothing in the address bar and nothing in the main window. All the tool bars etc are there.

Hope this is clear enough for you to understand?

Thanks.

Answer isn't jumping at me.

What browser are you using - Internet Explorer?

Just wondering if you have some anti-popup software loaded.

This comes bundled with the latest Zone Alarm, Norton software and some other antivirus packages.

Ah, maybe this could be it. I have installed "McAfee virus scan professional edition" and thinking of it that would be when this problem started.

Now to try and find out how to fix it :( .

Try "Disable" on the Mcfee and then try the link again.
If that works then its the Mcfee settings.
Then open Mcfee and look for Ad Blocking under privacy and move to off.
This should resolve it M8.

Not to offend anyone or anything but .........

Mcafee products are really , really , really not the best..

Even if you decide to uninstall them , the amount of crap that they leave behind in your computers registry is amasing.

Norton is quite good for Anti virus and Zone alarm or pro is about the best for a firewall.

Ok I've uninstalled McAfee, but I still cant get any further with the links.

I still get a new smaller window when I click on a link, but it's all empty, no address shown and just a plain white window below the address bar :( :( .

Try a browser reset..

open Internet explorer.

Go to tools and click onto Internet options

Click on delete cookies

Click on delete Files

Click on settings , once in settings , make sure the radio button is on every visit to the page. Click ok

click onto privacy , move the slider to medium

Click on security , click on default level , make sure the slider is on medium

Click onto advanced , click restore defaults , click apply and then click ok.

If this does not work , go into add/remove programs and start removing microsoft updates you have installed there.

If not , get back to me and ill go back to the drawing board.

p.s. do you want norton ?

In Privacy I dont have a slider it just says "CUSTOM" and I have three buttons:

import - advanced - default.

Below this is a button to do with overiding individual web site cookies.

I've tried everything else you said Jason, and I cant see any updates in the add/remove program section.

I'm sure this has only been a problem since the bl**dy anti virus was loaded:crazy: .

Paul

Download Opera :)

http://www.opera.com/

A nice, very fast browser - maybe its just a microshaft issue !

Right I have found the slider in the privacy bit, I pressed the default button and up it came. So it's now set in the medium position.

But you've guessed it still no luck AAARRRRGGGHHHH     .

Thanks for all the help so far.

From the forums resident computer thicko :( .
