I noticed this over the weekend - bit of muck and slightly damp round the boot hinges.

I thought I’d cleaned this area thoroughly when I bought the car but turns out the drainage channel under the plastic cover was blocked. The picture below is the left side - the right side was far worse.

So - quick guide…..

Remove four plastic clips (three of them shown in the picture)

Inspect and clean out the gunk..

This was all under the cover!

Then grease boot hinges.

Make sure your lower drainage channel is clear - the water runs under the top cover then down through here onto the bumper.

Refit cover - repeat on the other side - job done!
