E55 AMG transmission issue

So problem fixed! Star diagnosis came back with " Gear Change Implausible, check gear box oil"
Gearbox electrical plug was leaking, so that was replaced and 2 liters of oil added.
(last garage checked but didn't pick up on any of this)

Also slight misfire on cylinder 4, just needed the cap reconnecting

Now it runs like a dream.

Good to hear you have it all sorted Stuart, with minimal issues.
Only thing I would add, in your position, given everyones input here, and my own thoughts, I would have had the garage decamp the transmission fluid, fit new filter and new oil throughout the box, it needs doing anyway, you have a very nice car with extremely low milage, you need to keep it spot on, should you sell the car in the near future, it may be a neagative not to have done this, at this moment, when it was a very easy to do item at this time, with very little additional expense.

The oil was checked before topped up and it was clean so they didn't think its needed a drain and new filter.

Looks like it was done around 36k so will be due in a another 10k or so.

On another note some lovely person ripped my hood emblem off last night and dented and scratched my bonnet

Oh dear, real sorry to hear that Stuart, stealing the badge is bad enough, but the resultant paintwork damage is even worse, so many merc owners go through this, probably why so many fit the flat type badge these days.

Good to hear that the transmission fluid had been changed, so trouble free motoring!

Just like to say welcome aboard the e55K car ownership club. Your car sounds like a beauty low mileage monster. Glad you have got the little issue you had sorted. Sad to hear of your car being vandalized from these scum bags, hope it isn't to bad to get sorted. Going by your profile picture of your car it's black as is mine.

How are you finding the car, I still can't get over the power of these machines, one of the all time greats has to be?

I meant to add I intend to have my transmission oil changed mines just sort of 80,000. Mine was changed at 34,000. From a previous owner. I will have this done at the next service in May time get everything freshened up then.

Yes absolutely love it! A friend of my had 1996 e55 (naturally aspirated version) I used to borrow and I thought that was quick but the supercharger really turns it into a rocker launcher!...and yes its black inside and out, panoramic roof, keyless start and entry, folding rear seats.....spec out nicely.

The damage is a pain as had just got everything sorted, to fix it I need see to the scratches and dents and get the bonnet resprayed. Also going to replace the star bonnet emblem with a flat version to stop it happening again.

After the above transmission problem, two new rear tires today the bonnet is going to have to wait a month.

The garage I now use said change every 34,500

Sounds like you have a beauty there Stu.

They are amazing cars they really are. I like the star on mine personally but like the flat emblem also. If mine did get vandalized I too would fit the flat emblem. Touch wood nobody has picked on my car as yet.
