E55 with monster bills

Gulp!, not what I like to hear, poor bloke!. Hopefully he was just very very unlucky, or perhaps he's some sort of perfectionit and had everything done at the main agent and let them go wild when they wanted to!.

I sent him an email asking about those bills. If he replies I'll let you know.

He didn't say he actually spent 8k on it :) Could have been the previous owner. For these kinds of cars you could easily spend 8k in no time.

Well spotted.

Engine's and drivetrain are solid so assuming its not been spent there

where could you easily spend 8k?

Not heard of any forum members spending that kind of cash on maintenance.

Well, if there was rust, you could factor in body work, respray. Brakes, tyres, suspension would be a fair amount aswell. 10 years old and 132k is the kind of mileage where there could be quite a few components that need replacing. Perhaps the owner bought a lemon and then spent a fortune putting it right. The cost would also be higher if they used MB rather than a specialist. Also 8k spent, could mean warranty work rather than out of someones pocket, but unlikely at that age mileage.

We'll see what the reply is from renault12ts's email. I'll admit 8k is fairly high, but with AMG's nothing is suprising

Perhaps the purchase price was included in the £8k:dk:

No overmats:doh: That always makes me question wether or not the owner actually does care about the car. No Comand either, makes mine look way too cheap.....;)

You often find that people take the mats out when they photo the car, as all mats, to a certain extent look rubbish in photos, due to the accumulation of dirt on them and the carpets tend to be much cleaner underneath....well thats what I do when I photo a car and I don't think I'm alone:p

the amount of cars we get without mats.. there must be a mat mountain somewhere.

When I sold him that car about 11 months ago, there were overmats with the car. The pictures he put in the ad were the ones I took and I put the mats in the boots because they didnt look as good as the rest of the interior of the car. He came across as a genuine nice bloke and I would go as far as saying, if he said he spent £8000 on it, I bet he's got the bills to prove it!

Ill bet that 8k does indeed include petrol, tyres posh ones, wheel refurb, paintwork etc etc.

Maybe a gearbox rebuild, new brakes amg dont forget!

Cant see if its got memory seats in the pic, always seems to me if it hasnt the picture taker carfully forgets to include this part of the door card:D.

Guessing:-

Bodywork - new panels and a respray?
Wheel refurb?
New tyres?
ADS suspension overhaul?
AMG discs/pads?
16 plugs replaced?
Gearbox repairs?
Air con bits?
Cluster replacement/repair?
Misc other work/servicing etc?

Could come to £8k I guess, but seems silly to spend that kind of cash on an older/high mileage E55 when they're not worth all that much anymore. Surely he'd have been better off looking for a newer car in better nick if he was a perfectionist?

This car has Memory driver and passenger orthapaedic (heated as well I think) seats with lumbar support, no folding mirrors and no parking sensors, but has adaptive damper system and single din sat nav (APS 30) he had an issue on the way home from me with the plugs and I know he was in discussion with MB regarding the rust issue!

On the surface, the car was in very good condition as the pictures depict, but there may have been some underlining issues which needed to be resolved, remember, Mercedes + AMG = Loadsamoney, engine, gearbox and diff were perfect (or at least I thought) wheels had just been refurbed but needed a new set of tyres, bodywork very straight needing little paintwork apart from usual rust areas, there was, however, a problem with the handling of this car, it felt live, if you know what I mean, I put it down to the tyres and maybe a bit of geometry set up but if the ADS had a problem, who the hell knows what that would come to, especially at MB.

I find it difficult to see where he has spent that kind of money, but I will re-iterate what I said before, he came across as a man of honesty, so much so that I nearly let him take the car without paying me:eek:
He wasnt short of money, he walked into my local Barclays and drew the cash out without any ID or a cheque book, just his credit card, which, I have to say, amazed me. If anyone has got an interest in this car, I would say this man would answer any questions honestly

I would like to add that I have no affiliation with the owner whatsoever, he was a pleasure to meet and deal with, so much so that I gave him £500 off the asking price!!!

Hmmmmmm, actually that may not be too bad, £8k in 10 months:eek:

I just added up how much I spent on my car for tyres, repairs and servicing and it came to £5894.86 in the 8 months I've owned it, although I have covered 35,000 miles since then, and I've just booked the car in for a Service E next week!
