I've recently acquired an '88 560 SEC and have since found what appears to be a terminal problem with it.  There is quite a large amount of oil fumes coming from the breather pipe on the cam cover into the air filter box when revved, and having read a post (in the 'other' forum), it would seem that a "....piston ring is worn out....." requiring "...an engine rebuild or replacement."

Good news is I have a good engine in my rather rusty '84 500SEC and was wondering if this would fit into the 560. If so, does anyone know how much this would cost?

moving this post to Engine forum - about 250-500 for removal and same again for fitting... plus other charges...

Will fit straight in no problems.

Will have to change a few ancillaries but will be a clean swap.

expect to pay around £350 in my experience, maybe a little less or slightly more, depending on area etc. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Thanks guys, &nbsp;just what I wanted to hear!
