would it be possible to fit an c class 220 cdi to an e class 320 cdi? would it be a simple straight swap or would the gearbox require changing? ecu problems, etc?

Start getting quotes for a quality used motor that WILL fit your car and get quotes for the repair from reputable garages for the repair of the original. Pick the cheaper of the two?

Fix your one is the way to go as at least you know the story, but if you get a secong hand one things might go wrong before you know it

Fit a used 320cdi unit. There are loads about. The 220cdi transplant would not be worth it financially.

hi

sell the car and get a 220cdi

acid

Buy a new genuine front crank seal then go to a bearing factor and get one with a smaller internal diameter, only by a knatts tadger but maybe worth a go.
You cant write of a whole engine because of a seal.

Go Swing then fella, Don't go onto a forum and ask for advice then when people suggest THE PROPER way of repairing your car giving the information YOU provided, then crapping on other peoples advice because you haven't done your research or had the fault investigated properly by someone who knows what they are doing... We should have let you buy an unsuitable engine.

Your on your own mate, have a nice Christmas...

Yeah Lynall stop posting unworthy advice to people trying to bodge their cars please. My worthy advice is to fit a Renault 21 diesel engine, it goes straight in as far as i know and should run like a dream......

He could put some sawdust in the oil filler - that might stop the leak .

Other 'additives' : treacle ? , Tar ?

What else ???

Im pretty sure that sugar in the fuel tank will plug the leak and fix it all up good as new.....
