Various.
I am selling my Blue /Black 1990 190E 2.6 with Sportline chassis.

After much humming & hawing I've decided to stick on the diesel route I started on in January & am keeping the C250 TD I bought to use as my daily car. It's taken me this long to decide because I really like this 190E 2.6, it is nicer to drive & I prefer it over the diesel. In fact I have never owned a car as long as I've owned this 2.6, and that includes cars bought new for many, many times the price of this car. I've bought a bio diesel processor & if it all works out I can save about 80% on fuel using the C250. I still have a 2.5-16 for when I get the urge to drive a real car!

For those of you who don't know, the W201 Series was MB's first foray into model diversification, introduced at a time when MB sold only the SL, the S Class & the W123 which grew into the E Class. Going into a more mass market area than the rarefied areas they previously sold cars in they had to come up with something a bit special to silence the traditionalists & the critics ready to tear apart the Baby Benz. They did. These cars are very well engineered, designed & built & the proof of this is in how many you still see being driven on the road today when nearly all their competitors from the era have long ago gone to the scrapyard. In recent years I've noticed more & more serious MB guys recognising the qualities of the W201 & buying good examples.

MB made about 1.8 million 190Es & roughly 10% of these cars came with a 2.6 engine. I reckon probably less than 1 in 10 of these 2.6s came with the Sportline chassis, so it's a pretty rare thing.

Of all engine options offered, the 2.6 engine is the best choice for everyday use & coupled with the Sports chassis it makes a great car. While still having solid MB hewn from rock feel it's small & light enough to be nimble, particularly compared to modern, bloated cars, has enough power to be useful without getting you into trouble, returns 28-32 mpg tank after tank for me & is completely invisible to the police & boy racers, who occasionally get surprised. It is now approaching classic status & has a world wide fan base.

This blue / black 2.6 has been my daily drive since 5.2008 when I bought it from a young guy who couldn't afford the insurance after getting a few points.

I've put between 15 - 18,000 on it year in, year out with very little trouble. By modern standards it's mechanically simple & very easy to work on. Like most 190 guys, I've done nearly everything that needed doing myself, relying on Star Motors in Caversham for things I can't do or don't fancy trying. The car isn't prefect, after all it's 22 years old & has done 187K miles, but it is still a pleasure to drive & I would jump in it right now with zero preparation and drive it to the N. of Scotland knowing it would take me there & back.

It's taxed until the end of October 2012, it's MOT'd until November 4, 2012. It's located off J8/9 of the M4 not far from the M40 or M3. I'm advertising it only on mbclub for a couple of days before it goes on Auto Trader to give forum members a chance to consider it.
