Hello all.
can someone recommend a free antivirus for my laptop please.

Cheers.
Jason.

Another one for AVG here :thumb:

Another one for MSE here :)

I always used AVG Free until AVG2011. I found 2011 slowed down both my laptop and desktop, so I changed to MSE. Problem solved !

Another +1 for MS here:) And make certain automatic updates are turned on.

Microsoft Security Essentials from me too.

I had used and recommended AVG previously, after performance issues I switched to Avast, however now as a matter of routine currently always use MSE on our personal equipment (even though I have access and rights to fully licenced McAfee and Kaspersky products).

Panda Cloud. Daft name but it works. Highly rated by money saving expert users.

This thread has got me thinking, I have AVG 2011 on my Samsung Laptop and have not noticed any performance drop, however on the Family machine which is a Dell Lattitude with a slower processor we have had issues with slow performance and slow opening of files. After reading this I am now wondering if it is linked to AVG?

I am reluctant to change from AVG because I have found it bullet proof but I am now considering a swap on the family machine to Microsoft security essentials, can anyone give me some feedback on this product how robust is it? Has anyone using it seen it let anything through? All comments would be appreciated.

Cheers
Ian

I have used it, with no issues whatsoever.
