front fog lights, other lights

hi l am not new to Mercedes cars, but l am new to the club. I have a 2012 c180 estate, most things on it are familiar, as per my 2011 E 250. The thing that has got me is this, alongside the front fog lamps sit two other [lights], one each side
l am guessing that they are dummy lights. Can anyone tell me what they really are ?
