I've got a small bay tree in a tub. I was removing some suckers today and noticed the compost was alive with ants.

Do I treat it (with what)?
Do I leave it and let nature get on with it?

What's my best course of action?

I'm not sure if it works with ants, but if you water roses / tomatoes with washing up liquid in the water, the bugs all vanish. Worth a try!

Sprinkle ant powder on the ground just outside the tub.
