Hi there

1999 sl320 v6

722.607 transmission

Made it home in limp mode. Think that a transmission oil cooler pipe has a leak.

Bought an Ebay gear box oil dipstick. Doesen't insert to it's full length. Is this correct?

Also...can you change the gearbox electro plate without connecting to the car to a computer?

Many Thanks

EMH

The dipsticks dont go all the way in as they are not meant to be left in situ, they are only meant to take a measurement reading ( when engine is at operating temperature)

Dont know about the conductor plate

Is it a 722.6 5 speed gearbox?

You can change the gearbox conductor plate without STAR, but ensure the oil temperature is correct when taking measurements.

The only problem I see is you will need some sort of diagnostics to clear any faults stored.

What are your symptoms/codes?

it doesn't insert to its full length as its a tool not a dipstick. as its meant for different cars with different tube lengths etc so there is always about 30cm spare.
