I've bought a carbon gear knob for my SL but I've no idea how to fit.
Anyone replaced one?
Cheers

I see, electronics involved, I should have asked what year the car is, looks similar alright.
Might be best to wait to see what others may advise.

Loosen the nut (half turn the chrome ring on the bottom of the knob). Pull the shift knob up. Don't twist it, just pull up.

Looks like I've bought the wrong one, advert says leather surround which would hide the plastic ring.
I've mailed the seller hopefully they will give me a refund.

Prefacelift cars had the leather surround. I beleive the knob is the same. Just swap and see if it works. Half a minute job.

If the nut is different you can swap them too.

Whatever you do, do not twist the gear knob whilst pulling it off :ban:

There are two pins that supply the start/stop switch & break if twisted. :fail Just pull the gear knob straight up.

There's only one type for sale so if I do manage to fit it the black flange would be on show.
Still not managed to release the knob on my car I will try again tomorrow.

would somebody please advice if this knob will fit my car
