Golf TDi 170 commuter daily hack.
I fear the clutch will soon be getting to the end of its life on my 2008 Golf mk5 2.0 Tdi 170.:(

Any recommendations on the best brand of clutch to go for? LUK, Valeo, Sachs etc?

Is it worth going away from the dual mass to a solid flywheel? Any real noticable difference either way?
Any first hand experience of both?

Cheers.
Nick.

A friend of mine moved away from dual mass when he had a Vectra (used as a mini cab) on advice of his mechanic. The single/solid mass flywheel was significantly cheaper and brought no noticeable changes to his daily drive. It is still on the car now whilst he had two DMF's fitted over the course of three/four years.

I think, theoretically, the dual mass gives easier revving and thus acceleration, neither of which were a priority for him.
