I've looked at some reviews and alot of people complaining that these companies like ATS/Kwik Fit/Halfords tend to cause leaks for air con.

I need to have my air con re-gassed anyone recommend where from and costs?

i just use my local family owned garage with one of his hired portable re-gas machine unit and it seems to be fine with all of the cars he has done for me, it's just £35 and a half hour wait.

just have a drive around, I bet there are lots of them in London.

I used ATS about a year ago via a Groupon voucher. Air Con has been ice cool and not had a problem, service was great with no complaints

I had mine done in Halfords - 29.99, think its normally 39.99, but the guy who carried out the regas got me a discount as he said he loved the car.

How can they cause leaks?
The machine does all the work for them, the monkeys just connect up the pipes

Go to any small independent garage ask them to show you the machine they are going to use (google what you should be looking for first) If they say it will be ready in half an hour, walk away and go somewhere else. Expect at LEAST an hour connected up for a full vacuum, dry and re-gas. Make sure dye goes in and they do a leak inspection with a 'sniffer' and UV lamp.

Pay around £50/£70 + VAT depending on where you live.

Personally I avoid Halfords . Kwik fit etc , but others on here say they have had good results, also its a good thing to throw some business towards your local garage, you might need them one day.

They have to ensure that they correctly identify the specific model, as the amount of gas, the weight of oil, will vary from model to model.
Kwik fit once overfilled my system on a grey import, had chosen "similar model" from Subaru:fail.....blew the seals out the compressor pump.

Had to source a replacement.....and get it regased again.

I now have used a A/C specialist past couple of times, maybe I was unlucky with the grey import, but is it worth the gamble to save a few quid? :dk:
