Help - Fool smashed his wing mirror into mine - broken the glass

Hi all,

Narrow lane, dude approaches way to fast, doesn't slow down, CRRRRUNCH. It's possible to pass btw - just have to be careful.

Only the wing mirror hit. He also stopped and apologised.

Now problem I have is that he hit my mirror so hard that the glass broke. All over my side of the road incidently.

Question is - can I just replace the mirror glass ? The housing itself is fine.

I'd need a part no. and the wiring diagram, but otherwise 2 minute job.

Anyone able to help ?

You only need a mirror glass, not the whole mirror housing.

Later CLS have R171 mirror glasses, early cars use W221 glasses.

If it's an later car with dimming mirrors the part number is A1718100421 retail £335 (cheaper from people who specilise in MB parts)

It's a MY2008 version - the facelifted version - has updated comand and so on.

£335 ? Are you serious ?

£335 inc vat, but most MB dimming mirror glasses are around that figure, at least the rest of the mirror assembly will go again.

It's worse when a whole mirror gets knocked off and MB quote £600 for a replacement.

It's A171 810 1621 according to my chassis no.

Can you quote me for that please ?
