Just want to take few mins to introduce myself - I`m a proud owner of my first MB - a 2011 SLK200.
Never had a MB before and always wanted a SLK - now Ive got one and delighted.
Ill post some pictures when I get a moment.

Welcome to the forum.

Had an SLK200 (R171) from 2008-2015, enjoyed it a great deal. Very underrated car by those that haven't driven one. Roof up, classy, smooth, refined. Roof down, fun, fun, fun. Proper Jeckyl and Hyde.

As well as this forum, I also suggest looking into SLKworld for a focused SLK community. We made some very good real-life and online friends there.

Welcome. I enjoyed my old 2007 SLK200. Really Sprightly little performer.

Welcome look forward to the pics. I persuaded my daughter to buy an SLK 200 - 2010, she wanted something quicker than her 1.4 fiesta and as I was bank of Dad I had some influence. It was a car I always fancied but she appreciates it now.

I was so impressed I just bought a colour matching SL500 and our driveway now looks like a Mercedes roadster showroom!

Hi All,
I have had my SLK (2012) almost 3 years and the service plan finishes soon - what is the best way to continue servicing - with MB / Plan or a suitable dealer - it only has 20000 miles - I do about 4,00 p/year?

I would stick to dealer service to keep the stamps for such a low mileage car but use a specialist if any repair work is needed. For the SLK200, you are open to a wider market (not just the enthusiast). For the non-enthusiast, they will look for full dealership service record when you come to sell.

Also double check the service check list for 4th year service. Not sure if this is the same for your model, but I had spark plug change on 4th year and ATF change on 5th year. It worked out cheaper for me to take the two year service plan.

Hi,
Many thanks for the info - Its good to get advice of experience people.
My car is June 2012 and it will be my 3rd/last service of the plan in Feb 18 and I think it had spark plugs changed last time (Feb 17) and maybe this next time does need the Auto Trans Fluid change which if is part of the plan will be a good saving.
Do you know if this is included by any chance? and then - What do I do next - take out another plan?

The way the service plan works, when you book it they will run your number plate against their master data system. They will ask for the mileage. Based on the year, model and mileage, the system comes up with a service spec sheet. So it is better to leave it later than usual. My ATF change came up on 37,500 miles (50,000km spec) and since your car has already done 40,000 miles, I think you should be ok. So if ATF change come up on the service spec sheet then they will do it as part of your service plan i.e. it is included in the service plan and no added charge. It may be that different models have ATF at different service mileage so I don't know if it is the same for your car. They didn't mention that this was being extended to 50,000 miles in future (I didn't know whether that meant for later models or for all cars). Mine is also MY2012.
