At 10 amps, I would certainly be considering a relay.

Thanks Ted, I was rather hoping to plug and play, but I think you're right. Cheers.

Doesn't the W209 already have a fanfare horn relay?

Fuses 43a (circuit 30) and 43b (circuit 15R) in the front SAM are listed as being for Fanfare Horn Relay (N10/1kl) and are both rated as 15 amp.

Hiya, as the W209 has this facility, is it safe to assume the A209 does as well ? Will this be for the original horns or an accessory ? Forgive me, but modern car electrics are not my forte.

Hi Martin, Codger's attachments certainly suggest that the horn is relay controlled (easy to test - disconnect the horn and you should be able to hear the relay clicking.
As the fuse is 15 amps AND the horns aren't used often (unless you are Italian), I would say that it is safe to use these as a direct replacement - given that info, I would certainly be happy using them on my car.
The fuses would be the same on an A209 or C209 (being pedantic there is no W209).
Go for it, and let us know how it goes :)
