E63s s213 2019, E55 2004 Silver-SOLD, E63 w212 Weistec AMG-SOLD, E55 2004-SOLD, C36 1997-SOLD
as per title

is it worth 2 K extra?

positives
- Much higher spec - too much to list
- MB warrenty and preped car, so should be immaculate
- 1 owner from new car

negatives
- a little higher milage
- price!

all comments welcomed!

as a percentage I'd say ~10%

The greatest benefit should be the MB warranty.
The higher mileage would not worry me so much, as long as the condition was as good as those with lower mileage.

Really need more info. e.g. What fraction of the total asking price is £2k? What is the age and mileage on the car? Depending on these and other factors-e.g. nice colour, facelift or rare high performance model etc could easily be worth it.

Assuming you are referring to the e55 at MK mercedes for £21450, i think you are paying the right sort of money. 1 owner, high spec and full warranty. Miles are a bit high for the price. but then there is only one e55 in the Uk MB network

that is the one Peter, seeing it tommorrow, but the spec is amazing on it all the w211 options have been ticked.

I looked at this too, it may be a little on the high side due to mileage, this car would be maybe 17-18k outside Mercedes, I'm all for buying a good genuine car from a dealer, I did, at a premium too, but i would pass on this simply due to mileage.

This looks good

lopez, appreciate the comments, but you show me ANY E55 with this spec covered by a 1 yr warrenty within the last 12 mnths. I have the data card on this car and its got EVERY option ticked

I'd say 10-12.5% but ideally less. Mainly for peace of mind regarding MB Warranty and goodwill. Won't mean that the car is actually any better though.

Easy answer to the first question not one penny more would rather buy from a good independent. What do dealers do to justify it? most of the Tech's dont have a clue (although there are some good ones) Salemen have the head up their a*se most of the time, Parts are a complete rip off and most MB deaaler experiences I have had I have been treat like s*it, so tell me why I should even consider buying from them? let alone pay a premium for doing so.

Hi Alps

The spec on that car is amazing, the peace of mind that the MB warranty gives to me is worth half that £2k on its own. If you plan to keep the car and don't do huge amounts of mileage then I would not be bothered by the higher mileage.

On one hand the dealer is not going to have a huge number of people looking for an E55, but on the other he knows that the car is rare with that spec and in the dealer network so probably wont budge much on the price.

My E500 has very similar spec, except the rear heated seats and the blinds and the dealer (not MB) that I bought mine from would hardly budge a penny, as they knew that the car was rare.

So I am not alone. I would not go near a main dealer; all this b*lls about warranties is just that; you tend to get fobbed off and treated like an idiot - just my experience. You are much better off with a trusted independent like Jay on here - or even from the right private seller - someone that is clearly trustworthy and is in a position to be able to afford to run one of these cars properly.
To answer your question the premium would be a negative number of about £2k.

You are not alone at all your experience mirrors mine and I am sure there are plenty of others out there feel the same

There are good people, bad people, good dealers and bad dealers.

What's most important is that you find a good person and a good dealer/workshop that you trust, avoid being blinkered about the merits of dealers, specialists, or independents, and then and invest in the relationship whoever it may be. I find it pays dividends.

Alps thinking about this again,. I think it is overpriced. due to the mileage a private individual might expect to sell it for around £16000-16500 tops - so dealer is really looking at a £5000 mark up

Good time to buy though. Offer them cash completion before the end of the month and watch the pounds fall off (this is what I did exactly 2 years ago:))

I was going to get a second hand CLS 320 CDI from local dealer but randomly searching through the web found my brand new unregistered delivery mileage CLS in the colour I wanted and with the cashmere interior I wanted at a car supermarket.
SH one at dealer (in black but I wanted blue) 18 months old about 25K on the clock no command either and they were asking £34K. Got mine brand new £31K and they gave me a better trade in than MB on my Audi.

It is becoming extremely hard to find them yes, but you would be p*ssed if you bought that and then found another car similar spec with half as many miles for probably the same price.

My advice would be, wait for one with less miles, also in my opinion the must have extras are, keyless, dynamic seats, power boot, everything else is a bonus.. oh and perhaps pano on a silver car... if you can stand the noise. lol

But hey, if the miles don't bother you then get it and enjoy it.:thumb:
