I hear good things of these basic scanners.
Anyone who's moved on or upgraded etc. have one going spare to sell me?

I just bought one on ebay waiting for it to be delivered,my old reader was not up to the mercedes codes,I am going to try and get to the bottom of the faulty hand brake see owners manual that comes up when the car is first started,but goes after you have driven about 15 miles and switched off the car and then started it again,the parking brake works fine so it is a glitch some where.

Thanks for the offer. The MB2 model is rather sophisticated for my 2002 car.
Think I'll hold out for a cheaper i980 for a while.

They are a great bit of kit and works flawlessly even tells you what the code is and goes quite in depth,
But It made me realise how much you need one if your a diy/tinkerer or even buying a used car
But I soon decided to buy a star from China which again is another level.

That's good to know. I rather go for the star myself, but it's a little outside my budget at the moment.

I managed to get mine up and running for about £250 which I guessed would be 5 or so trips to an indy but again apart from the specialist tests
I probably could of done most of my investigation with the mb2

That's less than I thought. I'm guessing it's the multiplexer that's the expensive part? How did you manage to do it so cheaply?

I actually like looking at the coding/reprogramming side of things. Did a bit of this on my last BMW, but it's so much easier and cheaper on those things.

The multiplexer was £180 from dh gate (Chinese ebay) and a second hand dell laptop £50 plus a ssd £30 I got the software from a forum called mmh auto (free) ☺which was a preinstalled image for the Dell

I think it was king bolen
It was a mb star c3
It came in around 4/5 days
As a "sample" for customs purposes

Got mine recently. It doesn't do coding as such, just certain resets. It reads all module DTCs as well as live data, for example, it will show you live readings from your parktronic sensors. It's a good bit of kit. You can see the full feature list on the iCarsoft website.
