This happened during summer and I can't believe I forgot to mention it.
So, it's the wifes cousins wedding and we're on our way to the Hilton. Me, wife, 3 kids and my mum = the S211 which is its job. Now driving up to the front door, I stop. Mum gets out, wife and daughter get out from backseat and I then click the button to open the tailgate. As I jump out , my 6 year old jumps out the boot at the same time .... Literally running towards me comes the head doorman and in quite a loud voice in front of other guests tells me it's illegal to carry children in the boot of a car and he has to report me to the police this instant. I play along and ask him if that's true. Meanwhile, son no2 (10 years old) is laughing much to the annoyance of the doorman.

I had to put him out his misery and said "please come round here." The apologies I got when he saw the jump seats with seatbelts in the boot were unbelievable. "Never seen that before "He took the keys from me and said we'll park that underneath for you sir and bring it up when you're ready. You go and have a lovely evening.

One of those MasterCard moments.

Sorry thread was in the wrong place Karl.

Well handled HB...many people would have done it so differently.

He was a little "officious" though!

You'd be surprised the amount of people who have no idea these cars can be bought with the seats in the boot . It's a bargain MPV now with a touch of class and style. I'd rather eat the neighbours shed than drive an MPV.

Ciaran I thought to myself , this guy doesn't know it has these seats. He quite rightly is thinking from a safety point of view. No need to get shirty with him at all. His reaction was enough.

To be honest, I think he was quite wrong. It's not for us to do the job of the Police for them. I guess reporting somebody for drink driving when they are putting themselves and others at immediate risk is one thing. Reporting a customer for what most beat officers would not consider a priority, is overstepping the mark.

He should focus on doing his own job better, and leave the Police to do their own (I speak as a former Police officer). Would he have checked your tax disc (before they were abolished), did he check your tyres and ask to see your MOT? Maybe he could start breathalising people before taking their bags!

This'll never make a long lasting and divisive thread.

Man parks car. Second man thinks he knows it all. First man takes it on the chin and proves him wrong. Second man backs down. First man sees the funny side.

Grown ups; what will they not get up to next? :D

Count me in Derek.

When are we 'educating' Harry's new best friend ?

Only the police can care about the welfare of children - is that what you are saying?

I thought some Priests cared fondly about children ?

Oh no it's going downhill fast ...

This guy is obviously a cyclist. Kill him.

'Beat officer' !? is that one of those policeman that used to actually walk around back in the 60's before they all got fat and lazy and lost the use of their legs?

No, its the one they use for escorting "ethnic" prisoners to the cells.
