iPod connectivity issue

Morning,

I have just taken delivery of a 2014 C250 Premium plus

To my amazement my iPod classic (circa 2006 model) isn't recognized despite using the media interface cable. This worked flawlessly on my 2010 BMW 320.

Have had a search and there does appear to be other people with similar issues. But with my car being a premium plus I thought it would have an upgraded media system and be able to connect an iPod.... this doesn't seem like a big ask from a relatively new car!?

What happens when you connect it via the media interface? Does it attempt to connect and then say something like "Device not recognised"?

I had similar on my wife's 2015 SLK55 when we collected it. The media interface just refuse to connect to an iPhone. It was solved by resetting COMAND (look in the System menu).
