Is Apple CarPlay any good?

My 04 SL has standard Bose stereo Satnav. Also has TV which doesn't work.
What's the best upgrade, is Apple CarPlay any good?

If you don't mind the Bose system or don't want to completely rewire everything you can buy a Bluetooth receiver for the AUX port and simply connect the phone to that, the Bluetooth hands free still works independently.

I'm going to hardware my Bluetooth receiver into a 12v source to save recharging it before the season kicks off again.

Other option is rip out the HU, amp, speakers and start again with another system. I'm currently in two minds if I want to do that or not so will probably just hardware a BT receiver to the AUX port. Keeps the OEM look too.

Thanks Marty . My brill ice company suggest optically linking into the Bose system with a Apple CarPlay head unit. I loose Oem but get up to date technology ..... I think. Just wondered if it was any good .
