Is there any type of device that can send a message through the network if a device is moved or tampered?

lol , no ...

either a big chain or a dude watching it.

i was thinking up an elaborate way with a machine , but , not a projector......

You could rent or buy one of the new miniturised security cameras. The latest ones are ethernet enabled. Just assign an IP address, plug in the ethernet cable and watch or record the footage through any browser anywhere you like using just the IP address.

thanks Sp!ke but not what I am looking for.

What you want is a wireless or a bluetooth device connected to it or hidden inside that would be out of range if the device was moved, and an alert setup to say so.

any ideas of what equipment I could use setup?

Is there an ethernet port on the projector?

If so, could you not just plug it into the wall and run a batch file to ping it every so often and fire off a net send message or even an email if the ping fails?

Have you got a bit of a tea leaf amongst you then?

no ethernet port on the projecter I am afraid.

Tea Leaf?! yeah I work at a university what do you expect?

you need something like Tracker , only for a projector.:bannana: :bannana:

I need 50 of em :S

Of course remember to secure the camera down really well too!
