Love it, but it would need to have E Class capacity to be any good to me.

The saloon is a big car so here's hoping.

you wont be happy I'm afraid

With the seats up, boot volume is a roomy 550 litres, although its main rivals all possess more load space. The Audi A6 Avant and 5-series Touring each offer 560 litres and the Mercedes E-class estate has a 696-litre hold

Such a shame that it looks like the back end of a Vauxhall Insignia, which isn't bad looking per se but I'd have hope that the XF would have been a bit more pleasing on the eye.

Looks great but....

That boot looks NO way as big as an E class. My brother had an XF estate and just like that it looks really high?. Look where the load cover would sit with that case on show.

I guess like the shooting brake these new 'sportbrake' inbetween estate cars are maybe more for people that want and estate car some of the time but a sleak car the rest of the time so its a compromise?

I like it but it doesn't look proper estate car big

edit...

The car show has got some sort of easy pack load system? maybe that eats the boot space a little.

Also.....could it be 4wd? hence the high boot?

I know they are developing a 4WD XF, but don't know whether it will be available in the XF estate, which is RWD.

You mean X Type estate ??

This XF reminds me of the Vauxhall Insignia 'Sports Tourer' we had as a courtesy car recently:

Agreed - similar to Insignia and a touch of Honda Accord estate too? Still a smart vehicle, but I'd take the saloon any day.

Still have a soft spot for the XF :ban:

^ sorry your quite right

He had one of the first 2.0d Sport X type estate, nice looking car and 50mpg (ok on mondeo underneath..)

But the boot was very small and high.

I think it looks OK, but for some reason it looks like a car at the end of its lifecycle not the start.
They should have released the new XF and an estate to go with that.

It'll have to go some to beat an E class as an executive load carrier
