W204 C250 CDI Sport
Hi everyone.

I've just bought a 2012 C250 CDI Sport, and I am due to pick it up on Friday :D

I've had hot hatches and sports saloons mainly (boy racer types), but hadn't owned a Mercedes in my 28 years of driving. Some of the cars I've owned include; Sri's, VR6, Impreza Series McRae, Celica GT4, Clio Sport 172, Mini Cooper S, Mondeo ST220. I currently drive a Jeep Patriot, which I've owned for nearly 7 years and 75k miles. I have a health problem with my hips, and the Jeep is easy to get in and out of, but before I get to the stage of not being able to drive a family saloon, I've taken the plunge with the C Class. I'm hoping it's a compromise of speed and comfort. My wife says it's an old man's car, but I'm 44, look 54, and feel 64, so I'll happily say I fall into that category.

I've had a look around, and there appears to be lots of good reading to be had. I may even pluck up the courage to ask questions if I have any.

Kind regards

Welcome.

Your C-Class is the w204 facelift.

The car is roomy, comfortable, and the 250 CDI engine is reasonably fast.

Enjoy!

Hi scoops,
Nice list of previous cars, I'm a new first time merc owner too and enjoying it so far, kinda for the reasons you say, comfort, bit of a turn of speed and not too bad on fuel.
Lol at your wife's comment on the 'Old mans car'! I'll be 40 in a few months and had hot hatches, mk2 escorts, golf gti's, Mitsubishi VR4 etc, although my wife loves the merc, she says jags are for old men! Although, realisation I'm middle aged happened when my mum saw the merc and said 'finally, a grown ups car!' :p

(Pssst, I kept a mk2 escort tucked away tho, cos in reality I'll never grow up!!)

Oh, and good luck with the new motor :thumb:

Unfortunately the Mercedes will feel like a bit of a land yacht after all those fast hatchbacks. - It will eat the miles without driving you mad with exhaust drone, but you won't feel confident hurtling down a B road with it.

Having said that, my little hatchback hasn't had much attention since the CLK arrived.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys :thumb:

The Mercedes may not be as agile or as fast as some of my previous cars, but please tell me it will be better than my current Jeep Patriot!?

Lower Tax, more speed, better MPG, and my 7.5 mile commute to work is on quiet A roads, so I'm sure it will be a more pleasant 12 minute drive than it is now. :D

SRIs? Vec B V6s by any chance? I've had those, V6 GSIs, Clio 172s , ZS180. The Vectra B V6 was actually a very nice engine.

Mk 2 Astra 1.8 Sri, the white one with the white alloys. My SRi Vectra was the 3L V6 diesel actually. Was a great car to drive (my wife's favourite of all I've had), and good mpg, but it used a lot of oil, and the amount of black smoke it put out scared me a little. It certainly went well though!

Aye, good grunty engine that. I also had a Signum (Vec C) with the petrol 3.2 V6, went good but it just wasnt as characterful as the earlier engines.

I think you will enjoy your c250. I'm loving my C220 but it does need a bit more oomph.

Apologies for not being able to find where I'm supposed to post pics. If one of the mods wants to move this post then that's cool.

Picked my car up yesterday and was very pleased with the quality of the alloy wheel refurbishing that the garage had promised. I've lost the diamond cut but I like the durability of powder coating. I had the wheels on my last car powder coated, and 6 years later they still looked like new! They had even fitted new hub caps, but I've replaced these already with the newer (?) black detailed version.
I have also fitted an aftermarket spoiler, bought ready painted and shipped from Germany.

There's only the black antenna that's niggling me now!

Anyway here's a few pics I took yesterday.
