Hi all,

I noticed this evening that when I start the car, the rev counter won't move untill about 5 to 20 seconds after the car has been started. It makes no difference if I run the car for a while, turn off, and then turn straight back on, it still takes its time...

Any ideas what might cause this?

It was fine this afternoon, and I'll see what happens tomorrow. I seriously think my car is haunted - phanton indicator stalk probs that have fixed themselves, now this!

This use to happen from time to time on my old W202 (1995) a strong whack to the side of the speedo normally fixed it.

It will be a loose connection to the dash cluster, have a go at removing the unit to check the connections etc.

It's probably the paint on the stop needle. Scrape the black paint off then either leave it or cover with some plastic sheathing.

The car had been sat for a couple of says when it took longest to start working, today it seemed better, about 1 second before it started working.

When I get the time I'll take a look at the paint the the connections :)
