I have opened an email sub-account in wifies name with BT Yahoo mail. That works OK but would like to link it to my Thunderbird email so that any incoming could be read without logging in to Yahoo...which is a pain.

BT Mumbai say it can't be done. Are they correct?

Ta.

If I understand you correctly, you now have your email account (e.g. [email protected]) and a second one, e.g. [email protected] and that each has a password associated with it.

If that's the case, then BT Mubai are talking hogwash. All you need to do is set up another accound in Thunderbird with the credentials for the [email protected] account and it will all work fine.

Thunderbird supports multiple email accounts, so I see no reason why you couldn't do that. The only thing that rings a bell is that SWMBO has a Yahoo email addy, and we had to upgrade it to a Yahoo + account (about £10 a year, from memory - it was a while back) to get POP access, which is what you need to access the account from a standard mail client. HTH.

Cheers,

Gaz

That's it, got it in one :thumb:

TA, however I don't want a POP account because, as I understand it, if I download from my server it then deletes from same?

Which is where this ^ comes in. Looks like an IMAP account is what I need...is this correct? I'll give it a go. And thanks :D

.

Sorry I'm not able to test it, I use Livemail with Demon and Outlook email accounts.

The setup looks very similar. You get to choose whether to use IMAP or POP for your wifes Yahoo mail account.

Just to conclude. Tried the above advice and all is now good.

Many thanks for the help. :thumb:

Is that what we discussed on Wednesday ?

"as I understand it, if I download from my server it then deletes from same?"

It's a set up option with Thunderbird. I've got a couple of addresses - emails to either land in the same inbox.

Laptop at home doesn't delete from server, PC at work does

Yes, that's it. I sent her an email and that worked. She sent me one and it went into my BT spam folder. It thought she was flogging Viagra. :D

Any ideas on how to make an iPad do the same?
