Hi.

Looking to make an offer and arrange for RAC to do a comprehensive inspection. I was wonder if any members are familiar with this car. The only two things that I need to clear at the moment, is that the car has had Reg Numbers changed a few times according to Cazana and the photo of the engine bay says something wasnt right recently.

That looks like it could be a very very expensive vehicle to keep and run the way it's supposed to be... Nevertheless, it looks amazing value if everything and i mean everything checks out. I'd be terrified to run one with no comprehensive warranty or pool of cash for maintenance though.

Just get as much info as you can about the mileage, a member on t'other side bought one and found it to have a can blocker fitted!

Definitely get an inspection, well worth it on a car like this

Beautiful car , I'm sure you'll do your homework ,looks stunning and will drive the same , lucky man

It is an awful lot of car for £25K, but think of it in a similar way to buying a £25K Bentley.

If you can stomach some truly shocking repair bills if you're unlucky enough to have a major problem then I have no doubt it's a lovely place to be.

Check it has a fridge in the boot. I always doubt the claim of "every conceivable extra" until proven...

:D

Don't bother with the RAC, get a good inde to look over it and read codes,
Awesome car

My 500CL had the fridge, and I think exactly the same when it says 'every conceivable extra' :)

Not many people will want to buy a ten year car like this because of the potential bills so I doubt there will be much interest so don't pay too much. The average RAC guy will be out of his depth and I suggest you get an expert to examine this.
Crazy price I think, I would have thought it to be worth no more than 10% of original price at that age at best.

One of the key difficulties with modern high-end cars is that they would have cutting edge technology fitted, but this technology become dated very quickly.

In that respect a new mid-range E-Class or even a well-specced C-Class will be much more advanced in terms of SatNav, screen resolution, Bluetooth, internet connectivity, driver aids, etc etc.

So don't pay too much... buyers know that the comprehensive list of options rely partially on obsolete technology and this car won't sell quickly.

It will sell on the back of it being a S65 Limo which is a fantastic combination of pace and space, but it won't sell on the basis of having COMAND or rear screens or HIDs or Telephony options etc.

Btw, the car is very close to an inde I use called Wright Tech in Sidcup.

I had my previous E driven to them for a PPI from half an hour away and it paid dividends!

If they are not willing to take the car for one, I'd be interested to know and wonder what they were hiding.

The vendor of my E were more than happy to do this.

Just as a matter of interest have you looked at his feedback ?

Nothing as a buyer or seller for over 12 months , prior to that a few low value electronic bits and bobs. So obviously not a trader.

Now he is selling a £25k prestige car , and a very specialist one at that.

It was also off the road for a year, MOT expired 09/13 and was not MOT`d until 08/14 ?

Nice car though.

I did earlier and thought it was slightly odd.

But then again, if I had sold my previous car or even current car on eBay, it would have been / would be a similar story as I have never sold a car on eBay before.

Off the road thing is interesting although may be an honest reason for it.

The seller has not sold OR bought anything in over 12 months and now he is selling a car like the S-class.

The year off the road is a question i would need answering , face to face.

Amazing Motor. I can't imagine the running costs. That mpg must be into single digits when you want a little more fun out of it or in heavy traffic?

10% of its original price? Crazy opinion if you ask me. It's clearly worth much more than £17k

The private registration plate matches the sellers name...

I still wouldn't read too much into it at this stage as I don't always sell stuff from one month to the next.

The history of the car certainly needs going through with a fine tooth comb for sure though - especially in light of the potential bills it could have let alone it being bent.

I wouldn't read too much into it, how much buying/selling history do you get from a seller on Auto Trader...
