Currently M3. Looking to move to SL55
Hi everyone, joined here to get some real world advice and experience.

Currently have an e46 M3 which I enjoy, but haven't really gelled with it.

So looking around at other alternatives, have done the modded jap cars to death, and have got the fast Audi's out of my system as well.

Search has been narrowed down to an SL55 or a 987 Boxster s, but am swaying to the Mercedes for the V8 engine sound which I adore from the AMG. Plus I've owned a Carrera 4S so am questioning whether I'd be comparing.

So I know it won't be cheap to run, but is a 2nd car so that's not so much of an issue, I also know from reviews they're fairly reliable.

But what do I need to look out for when viewing ones that are for sale, also what are the rough prices of the usual repairs and replacements, like brakes and servicing.

I'm in Romford, Essex so good recommended independent specialist to look after it as well would be great.

Thanks
David

Welcome to the forum David.

Have a good read up on the ABC suspension and water ingress into the boot problems on the SL55. Whatever you do, get any prospective car inspected before purchase by an indy.
If you get a good one, they are great cars with a superb engine, but a faulty one can leave you with open wallet surgery.
I believe Gem Tech are a well thought of indy in Romford.
