Good morning members,

I recently bought a 60 plate E250 CDI. I have the 5-speed auto which is great. Whilst getting to the know the car for the past 2 weeks, I have tried the manual shift and it doesn't seem to change down. It changes up through the gears no problem, but not down. When for example in 3, I knock the lever to the left expecting it to shift down to 2, but it goes straight to 1. I tried in S mode and it's still the same. Is one doing something wrong?

Will be interested to hear from other E250CDI owners.

Many thanks.

If your box is the same as on my 2008 C200 then it has three modes C Comfort (changes up fairly early at lowish revs) S Sport (hangs on and revs a bit higher before changing up) then M Manual which depends on when you flick the paddles, though it will change automatically if the revs get out of the engines comfort zone and you haven't done anything with the paddles.

Hello artyman, I don't have a C,S or M mode on my car. All I have is E and S, no paddles on the steering wheel.
