Maybe Clarkson should have gone on e-bay for his CL coilpack!

Did they mention the CL and the 850 last night? Or did I miss it?

Could you just imagine Clarkson changing them????????:eek::eek::eek::eek: The car would be destroyed.

Very true snoop, the buffoon would probably take a hammer to it!! Good question though- I wonder how much an indi would charge if you provided the part?!

hahahaha, classic

one of the indi's here should send them a nice little letter saying how much it would have cost if he had taken it to them to have it done.... or maybe one of the forum admins should send clarkson a forum invite, pointing out the savings he could make by being a member here :p

Not much given that £1044 out of the £1200 was the total part cost.

true, but most indi's would not refuse to fit the part if you rocked up with it, they would of course point out that the only warranty you would get is against the work carried out and not the parts, but that's the gamble you take if buying parts second hand anyway.

Plus, some of the guys here can get you a better discount than you can get form the dealer, and their labour charges are considerably better ;)

The bottom line is that the comparison they did was against a brand new part for a brand new car vs a brand new part for an old car, (which cost considerably more in the first palce than the comparison car) fairer comparison would have been working second hand component for the second hand car ;) - much more likely to happen in reality !
