Well the battery finally died tonight, I think due to my previous battery problem after I left the DVD player on at the last GTG. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

Anyway, I called MB Service 24 and a guy turned up about 1 and a half hours later and confirmed the battery was dead.

They never had a battery at the parts dept (this was tonight at 10pm! ) so the chap arranged for me to drive my car to Greenoaks, and pick up a new C-Class from their hire department.

Took the car in, saw the brand new C220 CDI waiting for me with the engine running, went inside to sign for it and then the guy told me I wasn't old enough!!!

So now I’ve got a nice Nissan Tino !!! Can't believe it!!!

If they've still got my car tomorrow, they dropping off a S320 CDI until mine is fixed. Have to insure this on my own insurance though, which isn't a problem.

Overall though, quite pleased with the way Service 24 handled the problem, as I've got to be in Birmingham at 9am tomorrow.

Any one else had any dealings with Service 24?

Maff.

Did you not think to point out to them that you OWN a CL500, and presumably insure it!!, therefore should pose little or no risk in a C class Diesel!!

Thats really bad dude , i had the same problem when i was 17 and my A160 was due a service , i had to get the c200 put onto my insurance.

It sucks big time ..

on an afternote , what size in amp hour is everyones battery?

I can believe that. &nbsp;I have always had to insure my MB courtesy cars myself, it's just one of their rules. &nbsp;Luckily it's always been free for me, thanks to direct line.

My Dealer once loaned a car to a customer, on the understanding that HE insured it himself. The car was stolen &amp; guess what He wasn't insured &amp; had to replace the car himself (after a court case)

So now if ANYBODY is using a loan car they must insure it &amp; supply proof before taking the car.

Maff, Just think how much better your car will feel after driving a C220 CDi <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleeping.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleeping.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleeping.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Can I just point out that my insurance was £200 not £950

Oh, and Dave, your to young. There there, is that better.

I think im going to have to steal that banana man and include it in ours!!!

That is a bit silly...

While i was one of the mechanics i gained a lot of experience being on callout on service24, which is actually payed for by Daimler-Chrysler to the dealerships...who get payed a bomb to have a service24 van, it is something like £50/hour the dealership gets paid, for when they are called out...Notice the service 24 vans never drive fast... <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

Just the way life is.

Just done over 300 miles in the ucking Nissan Tin Opener today. Awful vehicle for long journeys!

Seem's it's going to take steelership 2.5 days to change the battery in my car, so tomorrow morning i'll swap the tin opener for either a S320 or an E320. Don't really car what it is as long as it's an MB! (no I don't want a Vito! )

As Billy mentions, it's basically due to me having to insure the car on my insurance, and because this was at 10pm Sunday night, my insurer wasn’t around to provide tempory cover on the C-Class, and because of my age, their insurance didn't cover me either &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wallbash.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bash:'>

So I got stuck with the Nissan.

As some sort of compensation, I managed to leave more rubber on my road with the Nissan than I did with the old tyres on my CL!! <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/colgate.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':colgate:'> &nbsp; <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/colgate.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':colgate:'>

Guess what 8 days to change a battery.......  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Well, sort of. They still have my car and now they are going about replacing most of the cars sensors and control units related to the ESP system as some error codes poped out after the new battery was fitted that they are not too sure how to fix.

They have a new steering angle control unit on order from Germany which may take upto 3 more days to arrive.

Since Tuesday I've had a brand new C200 kompressor to drive around in as all the S-Classes are currently out.

Not a bad car, just a bit slow off the mark  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

It's annoying that they can't diagnose and fix the problem straight away. Also it's very annoying that they can't be bothered to keep me informed of what's going on. One visit and 6 phone calls later!

They told me they have 49 trained and qualified technicians - unfortunatly they must have 5 un-trained ones working on my car! <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wallbash.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bash:'>   <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wallbash.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bash:'>   <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wallbash.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bash:'>

Maff:  have to agree, that level of service is deplorable, but is more or less what we've come to expect from too many stealerships.  We should all be entitled to better....even more so if I'd paid CL money for a car.

However....jokingly....it's &quot;almost&quot; comforting to see that even those with the more exotic (OK, expensive) motors are treated in exactly the same way as those with run-of-the-mill mercs.  At least we can't acuse MB of having dual standards  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Hope you get things sorted soon.

Woohoo!! Got my CL back after exactly 8 days.
They still have not fixed the window either! &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

and in replacement i've had:
- Nissan Tino 1.6
- C200 kompressor
- E240 Advangard

I don't know! All the dealers seem the same when it comes to service. &nbsp; <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleeping.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

8 days is shocking ... Has anyone had a bmw before? Are they any better?
